Engineering plastics is a group of plastics with better mechanical and thermal properties than the more widely used commodity plastics. Each type usually has a unique combination of properties that may make it the material of choice for some specified application. Compared to general grade plastics, due to their high cost, engineering plastics are mostly produced in lower quantities and developed in a product-oriented way. Examples of injection molding grade engineering plastics are PC, PC/ABS, PPO, PA, PVC, PEEK, POM, PBT, PPS, PTFE/Teflon.
